Deleting your account can't be undone. Your vault is encrypted with keys only you hold, so once it's deleted from our servers, nobody can recover it, including us.
Before you ask, open BinaryIT Safe and copy out anything you want to keep.
How to ask
- Find your Account ID. It's on the recovery kit you saved when you created your vault, under "Account ID" (eight groups of four letters and numbers).
- Email us. Send it to developer@binaryit.com.au with the subject "Delete my BinaryIT Safe account". Never include your passphrase or Secret Key: we will never ask for them.
- Confirm. We'll reply to confirm the request. When you confirm, we delete the account within 30 days and email you when it's done.
Uninstalling the app doesn't delete your account. It removes the copy on that phone only.
What we delete
Everything we hold for your account:
- your encrypted vault: every item, its earlier versions and anything in the trash
- the encrypted keys that open your vault, and your sign-in record
- your devices, their public keys and their encrypted names
- your account log and security events (sign-ins, device changes and their times)
- your sessions
What we keep, and for how long
- Rate-limit counters, which aren't stored under your name or Account ID in a readable form, expire within a day.
- Our hosting provider's backups and logs keep copies until they expire on their normal cycle. A backup copy of your vault is still encrypted with keys only you hold.
- Your email to us about the deletion, kept as a record that we did what you asked.
Logins waiting on your phone to be saved, and the encrypted copy of your vault on your phone, are removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
